Don Ameche was an American actor and comedian who had a long and successful career in film, television, and radio. He was born on May 31, 1908 in Kenosha, Wisconsin, to Italian immigrant parents. He began his career in vaudeville and went on to become a popular radio personality. He made his film debut in 1934 and went on to appear in over 70 films, including The Story of Alexander Graham Bell (1939), Heaven Can Wait (1943), and Cocoon (1985). He won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his performance in Trading Places (1983). He also starred in the television series The Hollywood Squares and The Love Boat. He died on December 6, 1993 in Scottsdale, Arizona.
